August 13 is Left-Handers Day.🥳
.
Left-Handers Day was created in 1992 by the Left-Handers Club as a way to celebrate left-handers to ‘raise awareness of the advantages and disadvantages left-handers face.’
.
🖐About 10% of the world's population is left-handed. Most of the current research suggests that left-handedness has an epigenetic marker, a combination of genetics, biology, and the environment.
.
Left-handedness was once viewed negatively by previous generations, dating back to the Middle Ages when lefties were thought to be possessed by the Devil.
.
🔬Studies show that non-right-handed students are much more likely to struggle in school and have ADHD symptoms. Another interesting fact is that a large study performed in the U.K. found a strong link between regions of the brain involved in handedness and how likely you are to have mood swings, restlessness, and neuroticism, a personality type marked by anxiety and fear that sometimes can veer into mental disorder.
.
👉Are you left-handed? Pay attention to your health. Make sure that you regularly attend health check-ups. You can even schedule a free health assessment with us!
.
Many tools and procedures are designed to facilitate use by right-handed people, often without realizing the difficulties it can cause to left-handed people. That's why it's good to celebrate Left-Handers Day to raise awareness of the needs of lefthanders.🎉
